LAI Brings High-End Video Production to the 2021 ALA and ASAE Awards

The LAI Video team has always enjoyed supporting the association community by creating content that brings each association’s stories to life and captures the magic of the industry. As we move full tilt into busy season for awards, we had the pleasure of once again partnering with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) on its 22nd annual Power of A Summit Awards and CEO Update on its eighth annual Association Leadership Awards (ALA).

ASAE’s Power of Associations Summit Awards

The 2021 ASAE Summit Awards were fully in person this year and we were thrilled to have had the opportunity to partner with the organization to produce the event’s video content – starting with a tone-setting show opener. To learn more about show openers and other event continuity methods, click here. As we brainstormed approaches for the video, we knew we wanted to create a moving piece that really spoke to the power of associations and honored the immense impact they’ve had during the pandemic. Watch the final result below.

The Summit Awards recognize six association programs that “have made a significant impact in their community.” And what better way to showcase their impact than through video? We were honored to also contribute to the show’s programming and produce six short “trailers” that gave recognition to the extraordinary finalists through captivating visuals and spotlighting the positive contributions of each winner to their industry. Watch the video highlighting the Cook County Farm Bureau to see an example of how we produced the six trailers.

Taking place at the National Building Museum, our LAI Live team produced the in-person program and brought the vision of the show to life through stand-out show graphics, stage management, and scenic design.

CEO Update’s Association Leadership Awards

After the success of 2020’s virtual offering, ALA 2021 was planned as a hybrid event with parts taking place both virtually and in person. We collaborated with CEO Update and several remote participants to completely pre-record the virtual awards ceremony which celebrated the careers of three outstanding CEOs and paid tribute to the spirit and endurance of the association community through the last year and a half. The 50-minute-long virtual program included:

  • A fun, yet earnest opening video featuring a “who’s who” cast of association executives

  • Documentary-style tributes for this year’s honorees, Leslie Sarasin, president and CEO of The Food Industry Association; Johnny C. Taylor, president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management; and Kristin Bass, chief policy and external affairs officer at the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association
  • Interstitial segments addressing today’s most pressing issues
  • A fresh coat of continuity graphics centered around this year’s theme of rebuilding
  • And a short behind-the-scenes nod to close to a decade supporting the ALA event

Following the streamed event, attendees gathered later in the day at Washington DC’s Long View Gallery for a proper in-person reception and toast to the three honorees. The in-person leg of this signature gala event was also produced by our LAI Live team. This double-act hybrid approach is just one of the creative ways we’re addressing logistical precautions and keeping programs safe, engaging, and accessible for audiences as we move forward with events during this time.

Our eighth year of partnering with both ASAE and CEO Update, we look forward to celebrating and supporting the association community with impactful video content in the future and continuing to raise the bar for their events and beyond.
