LAI Video Wins 5 Peer Awards!

We’re excited to announce that LAI Video took home five honors at this year's 2018 TIVA Peer Awards, including two golds for "Best Documentary" and "Best Web Series".

The Television, Internet and Video Association of DC (TIVA-DC), a local not-for-profit (501(c)(3)) organization formed to serve the needs of the growing greater DC production community, including Maryland and Virginia. TIVA-DC offers an entrée into a world of career opportunities, new-industry technology seminars, educational outreach, mentoring, and award ceremonies like The TIVA Peer Awards. The Peer Awards began in 1997 as part of the former Washington Film and Video Council (WFVC) and later merged with the existing, popular “ITVA-DC Video Festival”. Today, the TIVA-DC Peer Awards continues to celebrate local excellence in media and offer one of the most sought-after awards in our community.

Hot off its exhibitions at the Greenbelt Utopia Film Festival and Alexandria Film Festival, our feature-length documentary of stroke survival and prevention, A Teachable Moment, received a Peer Gold. This honor recognizes the collective talents of the entire LAI Video team for a very special project that was made in partnership with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association and MedStar Health.

We were equally thrilled for the online political series, The Swamp, receiving our second Peer Gold. Joining CRTV shortly after the program launched on Facebook, we produced two of the series’ most memorable and viral episodes that took viewers into the deep underbelly of the Capitol’s innerworkings.

A little less French than previous years, the 2018 dinner returned to the wood-paneled halls of the National Press Club. “It’s not a competition” TIVA organizers repeated throughout the evening, as LAI Video was honored alongside the city’s most established and recognized production companies.

And after attending six(!) TIVA award shows, we look back fondly and humbly at LAI Video’s own transformation into one of those established and recognized peers.
