The New Markets Tax Credit Program was established to spark revitalization efforts of low-income communities. CohnReznick has been involved with the program, matchmaking Community Development Entities with worthy projects. From homeless shelters to zinc refineries, these projects create jobs and bring economic growth to distressed urban areas. Every year, CohnReznick selects one or two organizations that embody the best applications of the NMTC Program and partners with us to give the docu-style treatment.
New Markets Tax Credit Case Studies
For the last several years, we’ve partnered with CohnReznick and its ongoing case study series to tell the story of New Markets Tax Credits. While the NMTC Program is a financial incentive (and a mouthful), the videos are decidedly emotional, focusing on the very real impact that NMTC-funded projects have on local communities.
What the Heck is a New Markets Tax Credit?

Telling An Emotional Story
After learning about the worthwhile organization and conducting preliminary interviews with staff and investors, our crew arrives on-site. This year, Cat, Anthony and Jun traveled to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. During a two-day shoot, they captured the essence of NOCCA as vibrant school for students seeking an education in culinary arts, music, dance and theater. More importantly, they highlighted the center as a sorely-needed cultural outlet for the New Orleans community. And this would not have been possible without the aid of New Markets Tax Credits.
From Hairnets to Hard Hats
In the last four years, we have honored Miami Camillus House, Houston Food Bank, Highland Baking, Louisville Home of the Innocents, Horsehead Corporation and NOCCA. These organizations could not be more different, and we strived to tell their stories in a unique fashion. We heard moving client stories at Camillus. We toured the impressive frozen warehouse at Houston. We documented pool therapy sessions for the children at Home of the Innocents. And We flew drones to capture Horsehead’s vast facilities.

Community Impact
No matter how different the case studies, we always connected each video back to the communities in which they serve - the communities that have invested in them to make a difference. CohnReznick is proud to highlight these organizations, proving that any company is capable of telling very real, very human stories. Even an accounting firm.
