Just as NCTA completed a total visual overhaul of the association’s brand, the NCTA Foundation repositioned itself to focus on community development and underserved populations. Specifically, the Foundation awarded grants to groups dedicated to providing technology-based opportunities for local residents. To capture this new initiative, we produced a series of “spotlights” for 2016’s three grant recipients, as well as an all-encompassing identity video that defines the new NCTA Foundation.
A Catalyst for Change
LAI Video was excited to work with the Internet & Television Association and the NCTA Foundation to highlight its inspirational partnerships with local non-profits. We created an capstone video and a series of vignettes that spotlight the incredible work of these organizations, driving home that NCTA and its members are socially responsible.
A New Brand, A Fresh Start

An All-Star Cast
During compact shoots at each office, Sarah, Phil, Favata and Anthony interviewed staff, volunteers and members of the community about each org's mission and services. We talked to A Wider Circle, who offers digital training in their fight to end poverty. We visited Byte Back, who provides computer and career prep. And we spoke to BUILD Metro DC, who teaches high school students business development and entrepreneurial skills, as well as coding and app-dvelopment expertise. These incredible organizations were more than excited to share their story and future plans with NCTA’s generous grants.
A Catalyst For Change
Justin and Phil cut together the series, highlighting the group’s distinct personalities while positioning each installment as a natural extension of the NCTA Foundation itself — describing the work of the foundation through the organizations that it helps. To make these types of grants a regular thing, it was essential to drum up some PR noise. Melinda and Sarah developed a well-paced rollout strategy that gives each org a moment in the social media spotlight. The series promises future episodes that will both followup on the 2016 recipients, as well as pay tribute to more amazing programs.
